E-Mail Provider Ensures Unsubscribes Honored

E-mail service provider Skylist said yesterday that it is certified by LashBack LLC, an e-mail reputation provider, which means its customers can receive real-time alerts when unsubscribe requests are not honored.

Skylist, Austin, TX, wants to ensure e-mail marketers comply with the CAN-SPAM Act, taking e-mail addresses of people who choose to unsubscribe off their e-mail lists within 10 business days. LashBack, St. Louis, records unsubscribes, with a track record of “success versus failure,” which is the baseline for senders' e-mail reputation.

“Our system automatically tracks the identity of our advertiser: Does it have a good reputation, a bad reputation or no reputation?” LashBack president Brandon Phillips said. “We're able to see the exact problem that caused the failure and work with them to understand everything.”

Marketers that do not honor LashBack's standards will have “the appropriate action taken to bring them into compliance,” Skylist said.
