IronPort Systems has updated its spam checking Web site. Now anyone can check on the status of a domain name or Web site and its risk of spam or viruses. This works both ways, allowing companies to test questionable sites as well as their own for Web reputation.

Alterian joined the Email Sender and Provider Coalition, a best practices organization that includes Datran, StrongMail Systems, CheetahMail and other e-mail providers.

Yahoo’s DomainKeys Identified Mail was approved as proposed standard, stressing the importance that the industry is putting on authentication and reputation.

A recent Jupiter Research report found that e-mail marketers’ salaries are on the rise. At the same time, the report, “E-mail Spending and Governance 2007” found that spending budgets for e-mail marketing campaigns have leveled.

Dave Lewis, vice president of marketing at StrongMail and board member of the Email Experience Council, has an interesting article about the new Email Measurement and Accuracy Coalition being led by David Daniels of JupiterResearch. The coalition was formed to create an industry standard when measuring e-mail statistics, which currently do not exist. Mr. Lewis examines what the coalition needs to do to make the industry standard work.
