E-mail marketing firm Emma goes green

E-mail marketing firm Emma has entered into a partnership with nonprofit Plant-It 2020 to plant five trees for each new client it signs for e-mail marketing.

Through a partnership with the reforestation nonprofit, Emma aims to strengthen non-harvest forests across the US and increase its e-mail marketing client list.

When a firm signs up with Emma for e-mail, Emma donates enough money to have five trees planted.

Emma claims to sign up about 300 firms per month and hopes that this campaign will help them plant 15,000 trees in 2008. In the program’s first month almost 1,000 new trees have been donated and will be planted in Oregon.

Emma’s tree-planting efforts began in the spring of 2007 with a campaign called Vote for Trees (www.votefortrees.com), which asked consumers to vote yes on trees. For the first 5,000 yes votes cast, Emma planted a tree.
