Eddie Bauer Names VP of Marketing

The makeover at Eddie Bauer continues with the announcement yesterday that Ann Taylor veteran David Makuen is the new vice president of marketing.

Eddie Bauer, Redmond, WA, announced a handful of changes in the past several months after news circulated in the fall that bankrupt parent company Spiegel Inc. received no satisfactory offers to buy the outdoors apparel brand.

Since then, Spiegel said it will file a reorganization plan this quarter for Eddie Bauer, that it had received court permission to open 15 new stores and, just last week, that it will close 23 underperforming stores. Spiegel also said it may still sell the chain.

Makuen will oversee Bauer's brand communications, retail creative design, apparel marketing programs, Home and outlet marketing programs, copywriting and credit and loyalty programs. He will report to president/CEO Fabian Mansson.

Most recently, Makuen was vice president of marketing of the direct division for the Ann Taylor and Loft brands.
