This summer has not been as bad as predicted for e-commerce.
A Forrester Research Inc. study in conjunction with Greenfield Online reported yesterday that U.S. spending on online sales was $3.98 billion in July, up from $3.2 billion in June.
Equally positive, the number of households shopping online grew to 14.7 million in July, from 13.1 million in June, according to the Forrester Online Retail Index. Consumers on average spent $270 per person in July, up from $247 in June.
This was “an indication that previous summertime spending dips were not reflective of a long-term decline in online shopping,” Forrester said in the statement.
