Douglas Shaw & Associates, a fundraising agency specializing in nonprofits and Christian ministries, has formed a non-equity alliance with StrategicOne, a Kansas City, MO-based CRM consultancy and analytics firm.
The strategic alliance will expose Douglas Shaw clients to predictive modeling, strategic analysis, performance measurement and CRM data warehousing services.
“Basically our client base is moving to a more sophisticated direct response program that makes use of a multichannel approach that includes things like Internet broadcast and telemarketing,” said Ted Pauls, president of Douglas Shaw, West Chicago, IL.
“So StrategicOne will provide us with the basis through analytics for making informed decisions on which channel to use that acknowledge donor preferences,” he said. “For instance, how they want to be communicated with, the frequency and the topical issues that appeal to them.”
Douglas Shaw was founded in 1994. Its client roster includes Precept Ministries International, Youth for Christ, Moody Church Media, Joni & Friends Inc., Answers in Genesis, Wycliffe Associates, Operation Mobilization and Rescue Missions nationwide.
“I think the issue today, from my standpoint, is our ability to develop a more fundamental understanding of donor insight and donor preferences,” said Michael Johnson, vice president of sales and marketing at Douglas Shaw.
The alliance will help gain more intelligence on today’s donor.
StrategicOne has served clients such as The Salvation Army, Moody Bible Institute, Focus on the Family, Alliance Defense Fund, Concerned Women for America, Prison Fellowship and ALSAC-St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The consultancy also has offices in Lincoln, NE, and Washington, DC.
“Coming from a consumer background, which I do, we’re developing a more sophisticated tool to understand what motivates donors to give and what motivates not to give,” Mr. Johnson said. “Because, from our standpoint, our understanding must go beyond from what the donors did to why they did.”
