So Don Peppers and Martha Rogers are “Direct Marketers of the Year.” Did you read your own story (“A Conversation With Don Peppers,” June 1)?
Peppers says, “I get eight or nine, sometimes 15 catalogs every day even
though we've never bought anything by mail. To me that's a big annoyance.”
What's really a big annoyance is choosing as Direct Marketer of the Year an individual who regards direct mail as an annoyance and hasn't ever bought anything by mail. In that case, I should be astronaut of the year because I've never been in outer space.
