What has been your proudest career accomplishment to date?

My proudest accomplishment has been the decision to leave my corporate career in fashion and retail to start my own business, The Veneka Group, and become an advocate for conscious consumerism.

What’s the best piece of advice you can give to future 40Under40 honorees?

Take risks and never underestimate your ability to make a difference. Remember Margaret Mead’s words and “never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”

What do you hope to accomplish in the next five years?

I’m working on a business that will launch in early 2019. It will bring the world’s most sustainable and ethical fashion brands into consumers’ homes. Fashion is among the top industrial contributors to climate change and the greatest exploiters of labor. By buying from brands that are solving fashion’s humanitarian and environmental issues, we can meaningfully change the world as conscious consumers and I hope to illustrate this in the next five years.

What is one interesting fact about you that few people know?

I was raised in India, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Vietnam and Bangladesh. I’m also an artist. Sorry, those are two facts.
