What has been your proudest career accomplishment to date?
No contest. Starting my own business. Being an entrepreneur is simultaneously the most challenging, satisfying, and terrifying experience I’ve ever had.
What’s the best piece of advice you can give to future 40Under40 honorees?
Articulate a clear vision for your future both personally and professionally. Set goals for yourself and be honest and diligent in measuring your progress. Choose advisors that share your standard of excellence and challenge your biases. Be wary of “experts” that offer you advice absent context. Get comfortable being uncomfortable. Failure and setbacks are an inevitability. Create a mechanism for dealing with them so you don’t get discouraged.
What do you hope to accomplish in the next five years?
I want to be the kind of leader that inspires courage and empathy. I am fortunate to have incredible mentors in my life that have inspired me in this way and feel a genuine responsibility to pay it forward.
What is one interesting fact about you that few people know?
I’m a professionally trained chef. I’ve always been passionate about food and hospitality. My kitchen is my happy place and always full of friends and family.
