DMCNY Honors Industy Veterans

NEW YORK–The Direct Marketing Club of New York recognized seven individuals for their lifetime contributions to the industry at the 14th Annual Silver Apple Awards on Tuesday here.

Silver Apples are presented each year to DMCNY members nominated by the club’s past presidents who have spent 25 or more years in the industry. This year’s honorees were: Dorothy Carroll, who worked in list management for such companies as Simon & Schuster and Database America; Henry Reed Hoke III, publisher of Hoke Communications; Pierre Passavant, a seminar educator and NYU professor; Henry Rossi, president of EEC Profit Improvement Services Inc; Robert Sawyer; vice president of sales and marketing at Action Letter; Robert Steeg, owner of the Coolidge Company; and Jo-Von Tucker, noted DM authority and owner of Clambake Celebrations. Hoke joins his father, Henry Jr. as a Silver Apple honoree.

List firm Mal Dunn Associates was the recipient of the Corporate Silver Apple for its support of the club in direct marketing in New York. Coincidentally, it was MDA founder Mal Dunn that helped established the Silver Apple Awards in 1985.

The Green Apple Award, which recognizes a DM leader with 10 years in the industry and who is nominated by club members, was presented to Brian Wolfe, vice president of consumer marketing for Sports Illustrated.
