DMA Names 2 Hall of Fame Members

Herschell Gordon Lewis and Fredrick J. Simon will be inducted into the Direct Marketing Association's Hall of Fame at the DMA's 86th Annual Conference & Exhibition Oct. 14.

Lewis is the principal of Lewis Enterprises, a direct response consulting company in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He previously had served for 25 years as chairman of the full-service international direct marketing agency Communicomp, a division of True North Diversified Companies.

Simon is executive vice president of Omaha Steaks and a member of the board of directors of the combined group of Omaha Steaks companies. He began his career at Omaha Steaks in 1959. He served on the DMA board of directors from 1972 to 1978 and as a trustee of the Direct Marketing Educational Foundation.

“These men are true leaders in the direct marketing industry,” DMA president/CEO H. Robert Wientzen said. “Their contributions to the theory and practice of direct and interactive marketing have had a profound impact on the industry worldwide.”

Established in 1978, the DMA Hall of Fame honors direct and interactive marketing professionals' outstanding contributions to the practice, growth and stature of the direct and interactive marketing discipline. It now includes 85 honorees.

The DMA yesterday also announced the addition of a Direct Response Broadcast Pavilion to this fall's show. The Broadcast Pavilion follows last year's Digital Print Pavilion and is part of The DMA's ongoing effort to showcase emerging technologies. The Pavilion will feature companies such as A. Eicoff & Co., Infoworks and Inpulse Response Group.
