DM veteran Montroy passes away at 64

Rosemarie Montroy, a 20-year veteran of the direct marketing industry, died September 10 at the age of 64 after a brief battle with lung cancer. She was most recently CMO at Direct Media Millard.

“Rosemarie was a true icon in the list business,” said Larry May, president of Direct Media Millard, in a letter to staff members. “She had an encyclopedic knowledge of the history and people of our industry. She was an amazing marketer and had an uncanny ability to evaluate audiences and match them to offers.”

Montroy began her career at SRDS. She also worked at Zeller and Letticia and Mal Dunn before joining Direct Media in 1987, according to May’s letter. She won the Silver Apple Award from the Direct Marketing Club of New York in 2001.

In addition to leaving her mark on the list industry, Montroy also worked on online lead generation in recent campaigns for nonprofit clients.

May reminisced in the employee letter that Montroy “was so much fun to be with.”

“I always left her office happy, and a dinner with Rosemarie was always a wonderful, laugh-filled, joyful experience that made life more worthwhile,” he said.

Visitations will be held at Tuttle Funeral Home in West Randolph, NJ, on September 15 from 3pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9pm. A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Whippany, NJ, on September 16 at 10am.
