DM News, iMarketing News Publisher Changes Name to Courtenay Communications

Mill Hollow Corp., publisher of the highly-successful trade weeklies DM News, iMarketing News and related Web sites and newsletters, has changed its name to Courtenay Communications Corp., according to an announcement made this week by the company's founder and CEO, Adrian Courtenay.

Courtenay indicated reasons for the name change included better identifying the rapidly growing, 30-year-old firm as a media company, establishing a more recognizable corporate brand and reinforcing his personal commitment to long-term growth. He added that following a banner year in 2000, the company has retained the investment banking firm of Goldmark Advisers to assist in leveraging its core products with new products and spin-offs, and achieving additional growth through acquisitions.

The company's print products include the 40,000-circulation DM News, the weekly “Newspaper of Record” for the direct marketing field, which carried upwards of 4,000 ad pages in 2000. This amounted to more ad pages than its next five print competitors combined. The company's Internet title, iMarketing News, serving an audience of 60,000 recipients in the field of e-business and Internet marketing, posted 2,273 ad pages in its first full year as a weekly, establishing it as one of the most successful publication launches of the Internet era.

Courtenay said that despite the well-publicized drop-off in ad pages and magazine closings in the Internet economy, iMarketing News had established a very secure beachhead and is well-positioned for future success in its well-defined space of e-commerce and Internet marketing.

In addition to its weekly print titles, the company's media properties include two state-of-the-art Web sites, DMNews.com and iMarketingNews.com, which were recently launched after a yearlong collaboration with the Razorfish organization. Both sites offer daily news, feature articles, columns and new, value-added services for visitors. DMNews.com contains a comprehensive, Online Directory of Direct Mail and E-Mail Lists, while iMarketingNews.com features an all-new Online Directory of E-Mail Lists, Web Sites and Web Networks.

Other online products include two daily E-mail newsletters, DM News Daily and iMarketing News Daily, and three weekly E-mail newsletters, CRM Weekly, E-Mail Marketing Weekly and International Weekly.

“Our success as a company to date is obviously a group effort,” Courtenay said. “This name change signifies the pride that I take in the quality of our titles and the professionalism of our staff. I am very pleased to put my name on our collective work product.”

Other key executives at the helm of Courtenay Communications include Allen Frydrych, CFO; Tad Clarke, Editor-in-Chief; Scott Vail, VP Sales and DM News Publisher; Nick Englezos, Publisher of iMarketing News; Todd Thomas, Executive Producer, Internet Media; Joe Oakes, Production Manager; and many dedicated journalists, ad sales executives and other media professionals.
