Disney, EBay Launch Web Sites

Disney’s Go.com and eBay last week launched a co-branded auction site. The site is the first of four to be produced under a partnership Disney and eBay announced in February. It is designed to pull users to eBay by selling authentic Disney memorabilia.

The site debuted as a link from Disney’s Go.com. It’s differentiated from eBay by specific Go.com banners on the top and bottom of the page. The page also features links to other Disney sites.

The Disney site will also block access to adult areas on eBay where erotic and pornographic items are auctioned.

eBay will pay Disney $30 million over the next four years to be featured on its sites. The companies plan to launch three merchant-to-consumer sites later this year, which will auction movie props, cars from retired rides at Disney parks and other memorabilia.
