Direct-Mail Newsletters Promote Internet Companies

Prosper Business Development Inc., Columbus, OH, yesterday launched a direct marketing program for e-tailers called ViewDriver.com that promotes the e-tailer through direct mailings of print newsletters.

Prosper Business Development has a similar program underway with local TV stations that has generated more than $78 million for television affiliates through the sale of ad space in the newsletters.

E-tailers that participate will organize their own ads and promotional articles for the newsletter and sell any additional space to advertisers. Gary Drenik, president at Prosper Business Development, said ViewDrvier.com would brand Web sites on a local level that can’t be equaled through a national campaign.

Fees for ViewerDriver.com were not released, but Drenik said e-retailers would not only save money by avoiding costly TV ads, but increase revenue because of an expanded audience and more ad space.

“A Web site can go from offering its advertisers two million visitors to an overall audience of more than five million,” he said. “It makes more sense than blowing thousands or millions (of dollars) on straight ads.”
