Digitas Wins Xerox.com, Opens Miami Hub

Internet professional services agency Digitas Inc., Boston, has been named agency of record for all online activity at Xerox Corp.

Specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

David Kenny, chairman/CEO of Digitas, said his agency would work with Xerox to leverage the company’s strong brand image and loyal customer base to reach new customers.

Jay Hussey, president of Digitas West, San Francisco, where the account will be managed, said that Xerox has a big and growing business and that part of the agency’s responsibility is to make that reality known and that “the company is not just in the copy business anymore.”

“We also have to communicate that the company’s Internet presence can deliver much more to customers than they [may realize],” he said. “Right now, Xerox has a site that is chock full of information but it needs to be more personalized and more customized. The key to keeping [their] customers coming back will be through helping them see how much of their business can be integrated into what Xerox has to offer.”

Digitas will develop online and offline marketing materials for Xerox, including collateral, direct mail and advertising print. Digitas employs 1,400 people.

In related news, Digitas announced it is extending its global reach into Latin America, opening a full service Miami office in June that will cater to Latin American and multinational businesses. Ruben Pinchanski, a native of Costa Rica, will spearhead Digitas’ efforts in Latin America. Other Digitas clients include American Express, AT&T, General Motors, Neiman Marcus and L.L. Bean.
