Digest Reaches Young Parents With New Magazine

Reader’s Digest, Pleasantville, NY, launched a new magazine last week targeting young parents. The first issue of the full-sized magazine, Reader’s Digest Your Family, has 112 pages, including 18 pages of advertising. About 500,000 copies will be on sale at newsstands through July at $3.95.

Reader’s Digest Your Family will focus on families with children from infants up to age 6. Among the topics in the premiere issue are “Five Health Threats You Can’t Afford to Ignore,” “Raising a Computer-Smart Kid” and “What a New Mother Really Feels.”

“These early years are when young parents most need advice and reassurance,” said Anne Cutler, publishing director for Reader’s Digest Special Interest Publications.

Cutler said the company expects the magazine to become a quarterly. Other special interest publications include Walking, The Family Handyman, American Woodworker, American Health, New Choices and The Reader’s Digest Large Edition for Easier Reading. They have a combined circulation of more than 4 million.
