DHL, Plantation, FL, selected Newgistics' SmartLabel as its preferred retail merchandise return solution, the company said yesterday. The service allows customers to return merchandise purchased online or through catalogs.
To use SmartLabel, customers detach a pre-paid, pre-addressed, barcoded SmartLabel from their order summary and affix it to their return package. SmartLabel's barcode links the package to the customer's invoice and provides package visibility early in the process, which allows customer service representatives to better address customers' exchanges or credit needs.
Newgistics, Austin, TX also announced the availability of Intelligent Returns Management, a suite of services aimed at streamlining the returns process. The newest IRM service, Returns Marketing, will extend the services currently offered with SmartLabel, which was launched in September.
Returns Marketing enables retailers to offer special marketing promotions to their customers when a SmartLabel return is initiated, according to Newgistics. The promotions can be sent via e-mail, postcard or letter.
