Deutsche Post World Net has appointed Ken Allen to the company’s management board and as CEO of DHL Express.

Allen succeeds John Mullen, whose resignation was accepted by the company’s supervisory board.

Allen has held different positions within the group, most recently as CEO of DHL Express USA, where he was in charge of the day-to-day implementation of the US express restructuring program.

Mullen will remain available to the company for as long as is required to ensure a smooth transition, the company said, and will act as a senior advisor to group CEO Frank Appel for a further period of time.

DHL said in November that it would discontinue its US-only air and ground services.
