DHL Adds to Signature Options

Express delivery and logistics company DHL is giving customers more control and convenience by offering three new signature delivery service options.

Shipments requiring signatures and destined for residential as well as commercial locations with limited hours of operation often result in multiple delivery attempts, said DHL, Plantation, FL. To better accommodate the delivery needs of customers, DHL expanded from a single in-person signature option to three, allowing customers flexibility in how they want deliveries verified.

The following fee-based options became available Aug. 14 upon request through DHL’s automated shipping systems or with specially designed DHL shipping labels:

  • Adult signature required: A person 21 or older with a valid government-issued photo identification must sign for the shipment at the delivery address.
  • Signature required: A person at the intended destination must sign for the package upon delivery. A DHL courier will not leave a shipment at the door without the in-person signature.
  • Signature preferred: Consignees have the option to receive a package at their location without being present, either by signing an “attempted delivery notice” left at the location or through a third-party signature on the first attempt. Customers who are not normally home to accept residential deliveries will find this option most convenient.

As with all DHL deliveries, signatures will be captured electronically and available for customer viewing at www.dhl-usa.com.
