DeNunzio Will Lead Draft FCB New York

Agency veteran Peter DeNunzio will join the newly merged Draft FCB Group as president of its New York office, bringing integrated marketing experience to a shop that needs it.

Mr. DeNunzio most recently was general manager of global clients at WPP Group PLC’s Ogilvy & Mather office in New York. He was general manager of OgilvyOne New York from 2001 to 2005, heading the No. 2 unit within the Ogilvy Group.

His appointment comes soon after Steve Centrillo departed Foote Cone & Belding Worldwide as CEO of its New York office. FCB, like Draft, is part of Interpublic Group of Companies Inc., a New York agency company that also owns McCann Erickson.

Prior to his New York stint, Mr. DeNunzio was a managing director at Ogilvy & Mather Paris and also regional account director on the IBM account for Europe, Middle East and Africa from 1998 to 2001. He joined Ogilvy in 1992 after working four years at Ally & Gargano.

His background in both traditional advertising and direct marketing and customer relationship marketing was a factor in his hiring.

Interpublic on June 1 announced the merger of direct marketing and sales promotion agency Draft and branding shop FCB. The merged entity, Draft FCB, will have one management team and profit and loss statement. The business integration process is near completion, meaning clients will be offered advertising and marketing services under one roof.

Meanwhile, Sloane Lucas, Draft New York’s head of corporate communications, left the agency last week to join Toys “R” Us. Based in Wayne, NJ, Ms. Lucas will handle corporate philanthropy at the toy retailer, focused on charitable gifts to organizations helping children around the world.

Also, WPP PLC-owned direct marketing agency Wunderman New York has promoted Dan Badion to group creative director from associate creative director. Mr. Badion leads Wunderman New York’s creative efforts on the Hewlett-Packard account.

A veteran of several agencies, Mr. Badion previously worked at Ogilvy & Mather, D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles, BBDO Direct and Kirshenbaum bond + partners.

Finally, one of the leading independent agencies in the Midwest hired a senior integrated marketing executive away from DDB.

Bernstein-Rein, Kansas City, MO, named David Hennagin as its new senior vice president and managing director of integrated and direct marketing. He was head of DDB Direct, the integrated direct marketing division of DDB Worldwide, Los Angeles.

Mr. Hennagin will work on existing clients, business development and agency operations to support Bernstein-Rein’s Brand Relationship Group, an integrated and direct marketing unit.

Bernstein-Rein in January will lose the Wal-Mart Stores Inc. account after a new marketing team ordered a review. The agency handled the mass merchandiser’s advertising for decades.
