Delta Air Lines sold more than 2.5 million tickets and generated $775 million in revenue at its Web site, www.delta.com, in 2000, the company reported recently.
Internet tickets sales represented 5 percent of Delta's total ticket sales for the year and were markedly up from 1999, when the site had 930,000 tickets purchased and $290 million in revenue.
Also in 2000, the company said, more than 1.5 million new users registered to use the site — three times more than the 575,000 users who signed up the year before. The site also had a daily online sales high of $5 million and weekly sales peak of nearly $20 million.
Delta said, however, it expects overall company revenue for the last quarter of 2000 to be lower than previously anticipated. In addition, the airline canceled about 7,500 flights during December.
