D&B Answers DME Lawsuit

Dun & Bradstreet, Murray Hill, NJ, has responded to a complaint filed by Direct Marketing Experts, Westlake Village, CA, saying it didn't interfere with a contractual relationship that DME had with one of its clients, Labor Ready Inc., Tacoma, WA.

While DME said it was contracted by Labor Ready to supply the complete D&B business database of 11 million records for a one-year term, as well as other services, DME said D&B had offered to sell the same database directly for $60,000 less than DME (that amount was stated incorrectly in a story in last week's DM News.)

“D&B did not interfere with a contractual relationship that Direct Marketing Experts had with Labor Ready Inc.,” William F. Doescher, senior vice president and chief communications officer at D&B, said in a written statement. “In fact, D&B itself enjoys a long-standing business relationship with Labor Ready that predates many years of Direct Marketing Experts' recent involvement with Labor Ready.”
