Dave Lewis joins Message Systems as CMO

E-mail industry veteran Dave Lewis has joined e-mail messaging firm Message Systems at its new CMO.

In his new role, Lewis will be responsible for bridging the ISP, ESP and major enterprise businesses and leading the way for new products.

“I left Strongmail with a specific objective in mind and came to realize that there might be a better opportunity to work on this vision at a company like Message Systems who have a good footprint in the ESP space as well as in the telcos and ISPs,” Lewis said.

Lewis is a recognized industry thought leader and is a regular contributor to DMNews.

He has 30 years of experience in the marketing space, including his most recent position as VP of marketing for Bizanga, a provider of message management platforms for ISPs and telcos in North America and Europe.

“For years we’ve been talking about how consumer behavior is changing, as is their use of digital messaging,” Lewis added. “E-mail is important but so is IM, text and Facebook messaging, and we’d like to address these changes with technologies that can support this kind of messaging.”

Prior to Bizanga, Lewis was responsible for market and product strategy at e-mail service provider StrongMail Systems where he drove industry outreach initiatives, introduced product enhancements and worked on strategic accounts.

Previously, Lewis served as vice president of deliverability management and ISP relations for e-mail service provider Digital Impact, now Acxiom/Digital. Prior to that, Lewis led development and marketing for a national consumer list product at Acxiom Corp. He also founded and managed the list services division for DataQuick Information Systems before its acquisition by Acxiom.

Before working for technology firms, Lewis served for 15 years at Bank of America in a series of senior level marketing and product management positions, including responsibility for the development and direct marketing of its equity products.
