Datamonitor finds Oracle to be CRM market leader

A recent Datamonitor report defining the CRM landscape and rating CRM solution providers found Oracle to be the CRM market leader.

The August 2007 report states, “Oracle is a clear market leader with an impressively versatile and highly competitive CRM portfolio.”

Datamonitor concludes that the current market for CRM solutions is characterized by the following:

ò SAP is recommended as an automatic shortlist choice due to the excellence of its CRM modules and dominant impact on the market;

ò Chordiant, Infor and Salesforce.com offer excellent alternatives to the market leaders, but will have to remain competitive if they are to continue to be considered as market leadership challengers;

ò Consona, Microsoft and RightNow Technologies could join the challengers should they enhance their profile among end-users or deliver on the considerable promise of their forthcoming releases.

“Out of the eleven solutions profiled, Oracle Siebel CRM emerges as the de-facto standard,” the report says. “Oracle Siebel CRM is a constant presence on the Market Leaders graph, and it is not the market leader or co-leader in only 2 out of 12 categories. Oracle Siebel CRM proves capable of building up a significant lead over its rivals, most notably in analytics and solution maturity.”

In the Decision Matrix, Datamonitor provides a summary of CRM vendors’ capabilities, based on a quantitative assessment of their market impact and end-user sentiment, as well as the technology features that they offer. Datamonitor also provides guidance for enterprises looking to deploy CRM solutions and whether they should immediately shortlist, consider or explore solutions from these vendors.

The report says the depth of CRM solutions under the Oracle brand is astounding, as users are very positive regarding the vendor. It went on to add that its standing in the market is matched only by SAP.

“The flexibility of its portfolio enables Oracle to put forward a strong proposition in a variety of deployment scenarios,” the report says.
