DaimlerChrysler Canada Drives New e-Business Strategy

DaimlerChrysler Canada Inc. has integrated its Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge sites with its Five Star dealer sites to offer online consumers a better shopping experience.

The revamped site at www.daimlerchrysler.ca now offers information on car features, financing, prices and incentives, and online service requests. It also allows consumers to check available new and used vehicle inventory at local Five Star dealers.

“We've developed an integrated system that provides Five Star dealers with qualified leads from our brand sites as well as providing consumers online resources,” Bill Paterson, director of Canadian retail strategies at DaimlerChrysler Canada, Windsor, Ontario, said in a statement.

The Cobalt Group, a Seattle provider of e-business products and services to the automotive industry, handled the DaimlerChrysler Canada integration effort.

DaimlerChrysler has more than 200 Five Star dealers in Canada. These retailers qualify for Five Star status through excellence in customer service. Overall, the automaker has an estimated 550 dealers in Canada that sell Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge vehicles.

Through the new online resource, Five Star dealers are expected to build better relationships with existing customers and prospects.

Tools on daimlerchrysler.ca include requests for quotes from dealers and customized dealer sites.

In addition, online financing resources let visitors calculate payments and research trade-in values. Service appointments can also be fixed online.

Besides the obvious boost in customer relations, dealers benefit in many ways. Cobalt's AutoShow functionality lets dealers update and manage online inventory listings and photos.

Moreover, the TrafficReporter tool shows dealers the number of visitors to their sites via daimlerchrysler.ca, the vehicles searched and other pertinent information. Cobalt's field service will help dealers with e-business strategy.
