DMN 40Under40 2018: Susan Diana, Director of Product Management, Marriott International

What has been your proudest career accomplishment to date?

I was fortunate to lead an initiative to create an ecommerce product that was flexible enough to showcase all eleven of Starwood’s lifestyle and luxury brands, but structured enough to decrease cost and increase speed to market. The product was successfully rolled out for our Starwood brands, to the satisfaction of all of our stakeholders. Due to the huge cost savings, we are continuing to build and iterate with that same successful strategy in mind three years later.

What’s the best piece of advice you can give to future 40Under40 honorees?

You don’t always have to say yes to opportunities, but don’t be quick to turn them down. You never know what opportunity, regardless of the size, can influence your career trajectory.

What do you hope to accomplish in the next five years?

I want to continue to evolve the digital customer experience journey for customers, ensuring a streamlined and personal experience no matter what the medium. Design and technology are powerful tools that should always benefit the end user.

What is one interesting fact about you that few people know?

I am a published poet.
