Crate and Barrel and DailyCandy partner on wedding e-mail promotion

Retailer Crate and Barrel has teamed up with lifestyle e-mail newsletter brand DailyCandy for a promotion that will give away $100,000 for the “ultimate wedding,” to be designed by celebrity wedding planner Jo Gartin.

The Crate and Barrel Ultimate Wedding contest, launched February 1, runs through March 31 and calls brides to create a registry at Crate and Barrel valued at $2,000 and with at least 50 registry lines. The promotions also call couples to answer three questions about their own love story, three important nitty-gritty details of their ultimate wedding and a description of their dream day.

“Both DailyCandy and Crate and Barrel will leverage each other’s like-minded audiences on the way to the altar in 2010 in hopes of acquiring new users and engaging current ones,” said Beth Ellard, SVP and GM of DailyCandy, via e-mail.

The newsletter brand created the initiative to coincide with the launch of DailyCandy Weddings, a weekly e-mail newsletter that will debut February 8. The newsletter uses the tagline “hopelessly devoted to you and your big day,” and extends DailyCandy’s Weddings page, launched last September, to the brand’s signature e-mail updates.

The newsletter targets DailyCandy’s largely urban audience, which is prime for the wedding demographic. Registrants for the Crate and Barrel contest will automatically receive this newsletter. Its content will also be available on the DailyCandy Web site.

Winners chosen by Crate and Barrel, DailyCandy and Jo Gartin will be announced in April. Contest prizes totaling more than $25,000 will be awarded to second- and third-place winners and 15 honorable mentions.

A Crate & Barrel representative could not be immediately reached for comment.
