Cable and broadband giant Cox Communications awarded a three-year, $29 million contract for providing technical support to its high-speed Internet customers to Convergys Corp., Convergys said yesterday.
Convergys, Cincinnati, will respond to Cox customer inquiries via telephone, e-mail and live online chat. Cox's relationship with Convergys, a Cincinnati-based back-end service agency that offers teleservices, billing and employee-care support, dates to 1996, when Cox became a Convergys billing client.
Cox Communications, Atlanta, services about 6.3 million customers in 20 states and is the nation's fifth-largest cable communications company. Convergys operates 45 contact centers and employs 44,000 workers in the United States, Canada, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia.
