PocketScript Inc.'s Speech-Driven Interface technology for its wireless, hand-held e-prescribing system, PocketScript, is now compatible with the new Compaq iPAQ Pocket PC.
The iPAQ wireless technology enables real-time network connectivity, automatic synchronization and constant e-mail access. It also is the industry's first all-new design powered by Microsoft Windows for the Pocket PC platform.
It allows physicians to configure the iPAQ Pocket PC to target their specific needs, including the operation of the PocketScript and its Speech-Driven Interface. The PocketScript system allows physicians to electronically prescribe medications by saying a patient's name and prescription information. It will retrieve that information wirelessly and screen it for drug interactions or formulary restrictions.
The technology also will enable physicians to electronically send prescriptions generated in the physician's office to a pharmacy of the patient's choice, either via a secure fax or an encrypted Internet transmission to the pharmacy's computer.
PocketScript, Cincinnati, also plans to bring additional applications to doctors, including transcription, electronic medical records, lab results and charge capture capability.
