Community Connect Inc. Launches MiGente.com

Community Connect Inc., New York, a company that creates interactive online communities targeting ethnic affinity groups, is expected today to announce the launch of MiGente.com, an online community for Hispanics in the United States.

Consumers who sign up as members of MiGente.com, www.MiGente.com, will have access to a free personal page as well as chat tools, articles, forums, events, e-mail and instant messaging. It will target Hispanics who prefer to surf the Internet in English.

CCI, www.CommunityConnectInc.com, decided to launch the site because of the growing number of Hispanics online in the United States. With a population of more than 32 million and buying power of more than $383 billion, studies estimate that Hispanics will increase their presence on the Internet by 50 percent by the year 2002.

In addition, a recent survey by Cyber Dialogue, New York, a customer relationship management and research firm, found that ethnic Web surfers represent a total online market of $20 billion. It also found that ethnic users are more likely than the average Web user to embrace convergence technologies such as interactive TV. This places ethnic users on the leading edge of new media usage.

MiGente.com will join CCI’s two other sites, AsianAvenue.com and BlackPlanet.com, which log an average of 110 million and 200 million page views per month, respectively. In addition, AsianAvenue.com and BlackPlanet.com have each registered more than 1 million members, making them among the largest registration-based media properties for their target audiences.

“By adding MiGente.com to our growing network of online communities, we have made Community Connect the premier media channel for reaching the emerging ethnic markets in the United States,” said Benjamin Sun, CEO of Community Connect Inc.
