Comics, Commentary Heading to Yahoo

Yahoo Inc. will be adding a little more character to its daily operations. Twenty-two of them to be exact.

The Santa Clara, CA, company said yesterday that it has a content distribution agreement with iPipe Inc. to let it use the company's syndicated comic strips, cartoons and editorial commentaries.

Among the notable comic features that will appear on Yahoo Web properties are “B.C.” by Johnny Hart, “Wizard of Id” by Hart and Brant Parker, and “Cobwebs” by Bob Gorrell and Gary Brookins.

The list of cartoonists is highlighted by an array of Pulitzer Prize winners, including Steve Breen, Michael Ramirez, Mike Peters and Mike Luckovich.

The agreement also calls for iPipe to provide Yahoo with articles by award-winning journalists, including David S. Broder, Ellen Goodman and George F. Will.

IPipe Inc., Richmond, VA, was formed in 1995. The online marketing and technology company has about 125 content properties and 500 advertising affiliations.
