Collegiate Pacific Gets December Upswing

Sports equipment cataloger Collegiate Pacific saw a 50 percent rise in new orders and a 100 percent increase in order backlogs in December, the company said yesterday.

Though December is typically the company’s slowest month, the sales increase was prompted by about 200 new catalog products sent recently to its 35,000 active customers, the company said.

Customer response likely will remain favorable from January to June, Collegiate Pacific’s primary sales period, though a slide may occur in January if adverse weather causes shipping troubles in some regions, the company said.

Collegiate Pacific also said it reduced its long-term and commercial debt by 40 percent compared with this time last year.

The Dallas-based company produces its 150-page catalog twice a year to 150,000 institutions nationwide.
