CollegeClickTV.com viral campaign prepares students for life on campus

Prospective college students no longer have to visit the campus thanks to a new online video site that brings the schools to them through downloadable videos.

The recently launched CollegeClickTV.com, was created by Pere Partnership agency head Glenn Pere, whose golf partner was too busy taking his daughter to visit colleges to keep up his game. This gave Pere the idea to create an online experience for various college campuses.

“The videos include interviews with students, professors and local merchants to give viewers an idea of what the full experience is on that campus,” said Pere.

So far, the site has more than 30,000 professionally produced videos, for more than 200 universities across the country. Videos are 30 seconds to 3 minutes long.

The new site has kicked off with a viral campaign, as well as a print effort. The viral campaign includes hosting a YouTube page, a presence on Facebook and e-mail newsletters. The print campaign includes a $500,000 spend in full-page ads in local college newspapers across the nation.

The site also has partnerships with other academic institutions including the Princeton Review, US News and World Report and Wiley’s Cliffs Notes. While these partners have placement on the CollegeClickTV.com site, they are not advertising partners. At this point the site does not have ads.

“We wanted a student to be able to look at a video without having to be bombarded with preroll and post roll ads, since the videos are so short anyway,” added Pere.

While Pere would not comment on how the site is monetized, he did say that the firm’s partnerships are always evolving.
