Coldwater Launches Online Store With WebOrder

Software developer Smith-Gardner & Associates Inc., Del Ray Beach, FL, announced this week that direct mail retailer Coldwater Creek Inc., Sandpoint, ID, will deploy Smith-Gardner's WebOrder online transaction solution to support its e-commerce operations.

At Coldwater Creek, Tom Scott, chief information officer, said the company chose WebOrder because it offered all the features needed to create the best online shopping experience. He also said “it's important that we have an Internet site that provides the same powerful order management and customer service features that we offer to our catalog customers.”

Many catalogers are turning to companies like Smith-Gardner for reliable e-commerce solutions as the shift to online merchandising becomes more critical to long-term revenue generation and profit. Coldwater Creek has seen its own growth (and stock value) slip over the last several months, and last year the company made moves to sell off its Milepost Four catalog after poor performance. It is currently not mailing the book.

According to Smith-Gardner & Associates, WebOrder will allow Coldwater Creek to strengthen its relationships with customers through personalization and specialized order-taking features, online payment and security and numerous interactive customer services, including online order status information, warehousing and shipping and real-time reporting.

Coldwater Creek is a retail and catalog operation with merchandise offerings that reflect a casual, American style. Other catalogs including Northcountry, Spirit

of the West and Bed & Bath.

Smith-Gardner is a provider of direct commerce business systems. Its WebOrder solution product is installed in about 50 locations worldwide. Its Mailorder And Cataloging System (MACS) is installed in 200 locations.
