CMOs on the Move: March 5, 2013

Who it is: Christopher Stadler, appointed CMO of World Triathlon Corp.

What’s his role: He will manage marketing, public relations, and athlete engagement activities for the Ironman Triathlon Series and Iron Girl and IronKids brands.

Where was he prior: Stadler was most recently head of acquisition marketing for Equinox Fitness Clubs.

Why was he appointed: “My focus is on improving communication as we tell the Ironman story and enhancing the athlete experience,” Stadler says.

Who it is: Brian Harrington, named CMO of Zipcar, a car-sharing network operative in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and Spain.

What’s his role: He will oversee Zipcar’s marketing organization, including member acquisition, global brand building, social media, public relations, and product and service development.

Where was he prior: Harrington led the Little Harbor Group consultancy, served in a leadership role at the Boathouse agency, and was on the original executive team at Upromise.

Why was he appointed: “Brian has a bold vision for the future of the brand and we’re excited to have him,” says chairman and CEO Scott Griffith.

Who it is: Elizabeth Durkee, appointed CMO of BI-SAM, a Paris-based provider of data management solutions for the asset management industry. She will work out of the Boston office.

What’s her role: Durkee will focus on building a strategic global marketing organization by generating and leveraging customer insights and building brand awareness in new markets.

Where was she prior: She most recently served as global head of marketing for SunGard’s asset management business. Prior to that she held senior management postions at Bear Stearns and Smith Barney.

Why was she appointed: “Elizabeth is a vital addition to our executive committee at a time when BI-SAM is growing quickly and expanding globally,” says CEO Alexandre Harkous.

Who it is: Rodney Mason, appointed CMO of Parago, an incentives company.

What’s his role: Mason will spearhead Parago’s corporate and client marketing initiative and direct its creative agency and corporate strategy.

Where was he prior: He was most recently CMO of ad agency Moosylvania.

Why was he appointed: “Rodney has a world-class track record in marketing strategy, product development, branding, digital, mobile, social, CRM, and channel marketing and we are excited to bring innovative ideas to our clients,” says president and CEO Juli Spottiswood.

Who it is: David Hsieh, named CMO of Ubiquiti Networks, a developer of communications platforms

What’s his role: He will be responsible for leading corporate marketing strategy and managing corporate communications.

Where was he prior: Hsieh most recently served as VP of marketing for video and emerging technologies at Cisco. Before that, he held senior marketing positions at Evolve Software, LBMS, and WebE.

Why was he appointed: “David’s established technology background and startup-like mindset makes him a perfect fit for our company culture,” says CEO Robert J. Pera.
