ClipBlast adds streaming video feature

ClipBlast, an online video search platform, has launched a live video indexing feature, allowing users to view live, streaming video content in addition to video clips.

The indexing feature, an extension of ClipBlast’s Video Web Intelligent IndexT, streams networks including CNN, The Weather Channel and ShopNBC, as well as numerous international stations.

“I think what you’ll see is the computer becoming more like a personal television when broadcasters are streaming television live on their computer,” said ClipBlast founder and CEO Gary Baker. “That really changes the way in which people have been using their computers.”

Based in Agoura Hill, CA, ClipBlast searches the Web for available content and indexes other video platforms such as YouTube, iFilm and Revver. On the site, users can also create a personalized video library. After entering preferences, ClipBlast searches the Web and finds videos that may appeal to the user. According to Baker, the Web site has hundreds of thousands of visitors per month.

“I think [streaming video] becomes a way in which [users] can be informed and certainly multitask, using the computer while watching,” said Baker. “They can become much more aware of how the video Web is changing the rules of the game.”

At the end of this month, ClipBlast will release a new interface to the Web site. The site currently allows users to receive e-mail updates and personalize the homepage.
