Cinco de Mayo Click for Cure uses WOM e-mail campaign

Albuquerque’s 505 Southwestern Chile Products has launched Cinco de Mayo Click for the Cure, an online event to combat breast cancer.

The word-of-mouth e-mail campaign began April 25 and will conclude on May 5 in honor of the Mexican holiday. 505 Southwestern’s owner, Roy Solomon, organized the project.

Visitors who click on the campaign’s Web site at www.505chile.com/clickforthecure will receive two free samples of 505 Southwestern’s new microwaveable single-serve packets of flame-roasted green chili.

For each order, 505 Southwestern will donate half of each packet’s value to breast-cancer research. Participants pay $1.50 for shipping and handling.

Those who wish to make their own donations can do so on the same Web site. All donations will be acknowledged with a receipt.

The e-mail-marketing piece for the online campaign is available on the site for visitors to pass along to others.

Each year breast cancer is diagnosed in more than 2.8 million American women. It is the No. 1 killer of women between 35 and 50.
