Cubancigars.com, Chicago, made a marketing wager that the United States will lift its trade embargo on Cuba when it launched www.cubancigars.com.
The firm said the potential legal market for Cuban cigars in the United States could run as high as $50 million a year. The Web site has received more than 1,000 visitors on some days since it went up March 1, although it does not actually offer the popular but illegal imported cigars.
The site has also aggregated a list of international affiliate cigar retailers and offers consumers products and pricing in multiple languages and currencies. Financial terms of the retail agreements weren’t announced.
