Christian teen title folds

Ignite Your Faith, a quarterly magazine for Christian teens, will end its 60-year publishing run this Spring.

The magazine, published by Christianity Today International, reached readers aged 13-17 and had a circulation of 100,000. Christianity Today will now focus its teen efforts on the college market, with its Campus Life College Guides — sent out four times a year to 100,000 readers — and site www.ChristianCollegeGuide.net. The magazine also will maintain a pseudonymous site, which is part of ChristianityToday.com.

“We are going to be focusing more on the Web because the focus of teens now is online,” Ignite Your Faith publisher Temuri Echols said. “The focus there will be on college guides and helping teens make good decisions. We’re putting a lot of energy on Christian college decisions for our teens and putting a lot of energy and effort behind that process because those are formative years for them.”

Echols said the magazine would probably offer downloads or subscriptions to one of Christianity Today’s other magazines to Ignite subscribers. The company also will try to drive more readers to the site, which will have more fresh content in the future. The last issue of Ignite Your Faith will mail in April and May.

Christianity Today publishes 10 other magazines, including Christianity Today, Today’s Christian Woman and Men of Integrity. ChristianityToday.com reports 2.3 million unique visitors per month.
