ChoicePoint Buys US Certs’ Assets

ChoicePoint acquired of the assets of USCerts, which provides technology and data management services for the remote ordering of certified birth, death, marriage and divorce certificates.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed

USCerts, Memphis, TN, combines sophisticated technology with user-friendly interfaces to provide state and local governments with a secure, remote vital records ordering system for the benefit and convenience of consumers. The company also provides a network for processing vital record requests by telephone, facsimile or the Web.

Alpharetta, GA-based ChoicePoint  said the acquisition of USCerts will enhance ChoicePoint’s VitalChek business, which already facilitates two million transactions per year to meet consumers’ growing demands for documents needed to verify a person’s age and identity.

VitalChek provides the hardware and network consumers use to order vital records maintained in all 50 states and the Canadian province of British Columbia.

The transaction is not expected to have a material impact on ChoicePoint’s financial results.
