CareerBeam shoots to give job seekers advantage

CareerBream has integrated TrueAdvantage’s SmartTrigger technology into its online career development portal in an effort to allow its clients – colleges and universities offering career development services – to notify students of companies with a high propensity to hire so students can pursue job opportunities before the competition.

Through an online portal, Baltimore, MD-based CareerBeam, formerly Advanced Career Development Inc., delivers assessments, resume and cover letter development tools, search strategies and research databases to help students further their careers. CareerBeam provides access to proprietary research tools that would otherwise be cost prohibitive or impossible for individuals to access.

With the addition of Southborough, MA-based TrueAdvantage‘s SmartTrigger technology, which mines the Internet and more than 20,000 business information sources, students using CareerBeam can quickly and easily receive information that indicates a company’s propensity to hire, identifying job leads at the earliest possible point in the hiring cycle.

Colleen Sabatino, founder/president of CareerBeam, said that by using a combination of CareerBeam’s career services and TrueAdvantage’s SmartTrigger technology, students can set up profiles to learn about events such as funding or new management announcements that indicate a company is likely to hire before the job is even posted. The student can then engage with the company before other job seekers and get a first mover advantage.

In addition, she said that since integrating TrueAdvantage with its portal, the company has increased the number of CareerBeam customers by 200 percent. It also increased the number of students who successfully identified and cultivated relationships with targeted employers by 70 percent.
