Caples Creates Cabaret Theme for 2002 Awards

The John Caples International Awards for 2001 will sport a cabaret theme next year.

Attendees at the February 2002 event in New York will no longer sit at a table for 10, viewing the presentation ceremony while wolfing down dinner. Instead, the formal ceremony will be held in theater-style, ballroom seating. Dinner will be had in neighboring rooms at cocktail tables for four.

“It's moving, movement, it's going in and out with different themes,” said Andi Emerson, president of Emerson Marketing, New York, and founder of the Caples Awards.

Emerson said the new arrangement will allow more mingling among attendees.

The cabaret theme is reflected on the revamped Caples Web site, www.caples.org. The site was redesigned by InTech C&S, New York, which is in its sixth year on the account.

Instituted in 1978 in memory of legendary BBDO direct response copywriter John Caples, the awards honor creative solutions for direct marketing problems. The rules and categories for the 2001 awards have been changed. Details and entry forms can be found at www.caples.org/rules.htm.
