Caples Awards to Honor Rosen, Parshotam

The John Caples International Awards yesterday named Richard Rosen, president/CEO of AlloyRed, as recipient of the Andi Emerson Award. It also honored Arthur Parshotam, executive creative director at Draft London, with the 2003 Irving Wunderman Award.

The Emerson award is given to an individual who has contributed outstanding service to the creative community in direct marketing.

Rosen founded AlloyRed, which specializes in brand/interaction marketing programs. He also is a frequent speaker on integrated marketing, advertising ROI and brand equity.

“Richard has been called a marketing renegade because of his pioneering work of combining the strategic power of multimedia direct marketing with the brand-building tools of general advertising,” said Andi Emerson, founder and president of the John Caples International Awards. “In addition, he is active in his community, supporting nonprofit organizations such as the Clackamas Women's Shelter and Committed Partners for Youth.”

The Wunderman Award is presented to an individual who for a decade or more has combined talent, imagination, curiosity and human insight into a unique body of creative work.

Parshotam's first creative job was working for a pharmaceutical agency but it was “turning me into a hypochondriac,” he said. He left to join Lintas, where he began working on international brands.

“Arthur is known for his bold, creative talent, which has inspired TV commercials and print advertising for major brands,” Emerson said. “We are proud to honor him as the first international creative executive to win this award.”

The XXV John Caples International Awards will take place Feb. 26 at the Roosevelt Hotel in New York.
