Canadian DM Association Changes Name

TORONTO — The Canadian Direct Marketing Association (CDMA) last month changed its name to Canadian Marketing Association “in order to reprsent more fully integrated marketing initiatives and serivces,” a CDMA statement said.

“Dropping the 'Direct' from our name simply acknowledges the exciting evolution of information-based marketing and of this association over the past several year,” John Gustavson, the association's CEO, said.

“As our members needs have changed it makes sense to have the name that best reflects this association's broader mandate for the future.”

More than 90 percent of CDMA's membership voted for the name change, which has been in the works for the past two years. Changing the name will be a gradual process, “and is expected to be fully in place by mid-1999.”
