Trade magazine publisher Cahners Business Information has announced plans for a September launch of a business-to-business newsmagazine called Broadband Week as well as a companion Web site named Fattcity.com.
Broadband Week is scheduled to debut Sept. 1 with a focus on high-speed, high-bandwidth communications networking, applications and content. Both the publication and the Web site are geared toward business and technology executives in the broadband communications field.
According to Cahners, the magazine will seek to provide unbiased coverage of broadband services offered by telephone service providers, cable operators, wireless firms and other suppliers. Other core areas of news coverage will include hardware and infrastructure and two-way interactive applications.
Despite the name, Broadband Week is launching as a monthly, with four issues scheduled this year. Before its debut as a stand-alone, Broadband Week was a special section in Cahners’ Multichannel News, a trade magazine that focuses on the cable television industry.
Broadband Week’s initial circulation of 55,000 subscribers will consist of broadband service providers, broadband site owners, software and equipment suppliers and enterprise network operators.
Fattcity.com, the companion Web site, will look to serve as an online resource for broadband-related information and products. Cahners’ Telecommunications Group, Highlands Ranch, CO, is producing the magazine and Web portal.
