Cadmus Direct Marketing Inc., Charlotte, NC, a unit of New York-based Hawkeye Communications since September, will change its name to The Convergency Inc. as of Jan. 1. “We wanted to create a world-class capability and to become media neutral,” said president/CEO Dennis Duffy. He said the name, an integration of the word “converge” with the word “agency,” better reflects Cadmus’ broader capabilities in direct mail, direct response TV and branding. “Clients aren’t necessarily thinking about [marketing] in pieces anymore,” he said. Separately, Cadmus recently hired Blair Shapiro as senior vice president and creative director. He was formerly vice president and group creative director at Wunderman Cato Johnson, New York.
