Cabela’s names Williams CMO

Cabela’s has named Scott Williams its EVP, chief marketing and e-commerce officer, the outdoors product retailer said in a statement. Williams will report to Cabela’s CEO Tommy Millner.

Williams will replace Patrick Snyder, who was transitioned to the role of special advisor to Millner in June.

Williams most recently served as president of retailer Fanatics Inc. where he began in June of last year. Prior to joining Fanatics, Williams was corporate VP of Wal-Mart Stores from 2006 to 2010. He also spent 10 years at OfficeMax in various senior-level positions.

“Having previously run the Samsclub.com business unit of Wal-Mart and OfficeMax’s direct business segment, Scott brings a great deal of e-commerce experience to Cabela’s,” Millner said in a statement.

The Sidney, Neb.-based retailer launched a redesigned website in January designed to provide a more personalized and simple online user experience.

It is unclear when Williams will assume the role.

Cabela’s did not immediately provide comment.
