BusinessWeek publisher defects to Salesforce.com

BusinessWeek publisher Geoffrey A. Dodge is leaving the publication to join business service provider Salesforce.com.

Dodge’s tenure with Salesforce.com will begin September 17. He could not be reached for comment as of press time.

As senior vice president of media sales at Salesforce.com, Dodge will report to executive VP of sales Dave Orrico. Dodge’s media experience and numerous contacts within the print industry were cited as huge strengths by Orrico. In his new position, Dodge will be responsible for driving adoption of Salesforce.com’s business applications in the media industry.

At BusinessWeek, where he served as SVP and publisher since 2004, Dodge was in charge of sales and marketing strategies for BusinessWeek, SmallBiz, BusinessWeek Online and BusinessWeek TV. In 2005 he was named Most Innovative Consumer magazine Publisher by B-to-B magazine.

BusinessWeek recently announced plans to launch a local Chicago edition of the magazine. The business title reported 1097.15 ad pages so far this year, a 12.6% decrease from last year.

Salesforce.com, San Francisco, CA, offers a suite of on-demand CRM applications, an online Salesforce Platform and the AppExchange directory. It also provides training, support, consulting and best practices services through its Successforce program. Clients include Dow Jones Newswires, Kaiser Permanente, Sprint Nextel and SunTrust Banks.
