Business Objects acquires Nsite Software Inc.

Business intelligence software provider Business Objects has acquired Nsite Software Inc., a software-as-a-service provider. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

The acquisition gives Business Objects, which has dual headquarters in San Jose, CA, and Paris, access to Sunnyvale, CA-based Nsite’s on-demand application platform, its engineering talent experienced in building and managing SaaS offerings and approximately 27,000 current Nsite subscribers.

Business Objects said the acquisition will accelerate and expand its ability to deliver on-demand business intelligence solutions, building upon the success of its Web site at www.crystalreports.com, which allows users to share unlimited reports via the Internet.

Nsite’s application platform enables users to build, customize and deploy on-demand solutions that deliver the performance of enterprise applications through a browser.

With the acquisition, Business Objects has expanded its staff devoted to developing its on-demand offering and supporting its growing number of customers.

Business Objects launched its first on-demand solution, crystalreports.com, in April. The company currently has more than 7,000 subscribers. Following the Nsite acquisition, Business Objects has now increased its on-demand subscriber base to more than 34,000.

Using the Nsite platform, Business Objects expects to introduce additional on-demand BI solutions in 2007. Business Objects will continue to offer and support current Nsite applications and will extend on-demand business intelligence to Nsite users.
